Copywriting is the process of writing ‘copy’ – that’s the term used by marketing and advertising professionals to describe the text in brochures, adverts, leaflets, websites, direct-mail letters, and so on. Copy is written with a target audience in mind, usually to sell or promote a product or service.

Do copywriters work on copyright?
No – copyright is a legal concept, which refers to the intellectual ownership of a piece of work. Just to confuse you, though, we think copywriters should have an understanding of copyright law, so the ideas behind their campaigns don’t infringe on other people’s intellectual property.
