Marie is the owner of Good As Gold. She has a first-class honours degree in English from the University of Leeds, where she was awarded the Canon JS Purvis prize for English Language studies. Upon graduating, Marie wrote for BabyCentre UK and the Good Spa Guide. She freelanced in Singapore, writing for magazines, editing books in a publishing house, and teaching English enrichment classes in local schools.
It was Marie’s experience as an agency copywriter which prompted her to establish Good As Gold, combining impeccable writing standards with a knack for getting to the heart of clients’ businesses.
Outside of work, Marie’s travel writing has been published in the Eastern Daily Press, Independent on Sunday, Irish Independent, Telegraph and BBC Countryfile magazine. She’s a former winner of the Bradt/Independent on Sunday travel-writing competition and the author of Slow Travel: Shropshire. Marie lives in south Birmingham with her husband and two small children, and they travel as much as they can.
